PROGRAM: 911 MEMORIAL Chief Roy Lusk and Todd Best CENTRAL KITSAP FIRE AND RESCUE

Chief Lusk reported on the planning and process involved in bringing steel beams damaged in the New York 911 attack to Kitsap County. The memorial is scheduled to be built at Evergreen Rotary Park in Bremerton, for which a fund raising effort is currently underway. Estimated costs for the project are  $150k-$200k. Bremerton is one of 17 cities in Washington that have applied for remnants from the 911 attack – but none on the scale of what Kitsap has been granted.

The program’s accompanying video showed the extent of the emotional connection America has to 911 as the beam caravan travelled to Washington state they were met with thousands of flag waving patriots including an escort of over 1,100 motorcycles covering over 8 ½ miles. Fund raising efforts are being led by current fire fighter and past member of the NYFD Todd Best. Should you wish to become involved in t-shirts, hats and other fund raising efforts please contact him: wwwkitsap911memorial.org – his phone number is 360-340-4240
