Susan V. gave a report on the District Leadership Training Assembly (DLTA). She raved about Bill Evans who was a speaker.



Bob Cairns introduced civil rights activist Geysar Gurganov.

Gurbanov advocates for a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia that resulted in many hostilities and atrocities among civil population from both sides.

Before running for 2009 Municipal Elections, he was employed as an executive director at the Euro-Atlantic Centre (NATO Information Centre). His professional portfolio includes work with other similar agencies. As a consultant and legal expert he was advising Council of the European Union in matters concerning human rights and political issues in Azerbaijan from 2008 till 2011.

He is a past president of the Rotaract Club of Baku International. In 2009 he took a short mission in Poland via the European Volunteers Service to assist in Chechen refugee camp.

He also administered various projects in the field of human rights, intercultural dialogue, conflict resolution, AIDS awareness, environment, and child protection. His travels have taken him around the world and he has published articles about Western and American culture as well as socio-political life in Azerbaijan.

In 2011 Geysar started "The South Caucaus Diary", a personal blog which aims to promote peace, democracy and human rights.
